Poster exploring a lack of cultural democracy in graphic design

[Graphic poster]

Poster design

With this poster, I tried to explore how language can function as both a visual and cultural system, using Telugu script to re-frame my approach to typographic identity. As a designer trained in predominantly Western design practices, this was a way to confront my own distance from the linguistic scripts and systems I grew up around. By engaging with the tactile qualities of the script and its connection to oral traditions, I tried to reconsider how vernacular design can offer alternative frameworks to dominant, Western-centric models of visual communication.
